About the position:

This key role is responsible for creating and executing a quality management system to enable world class quality and reliability performance as well as implementing continuous improvement efforts across the organization.  The ultimate goal of this position is to enhance and sustain company efforts to meet or exceed our customer’s expectations of product quality and reliability.

Snapshot of key accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of process control documents such as work instructions, control plan, process input and output parameters, etc.
  • Establish process capability studies based on product characteristic matrix
  • Ensure quality performance data/results meet AmeriKooler’s  and customer’s requirements and expectations; partner with cross functional teams (sales, customer service, engineering, marketing) to drive improvement actions when needed
  • Maintain , track and report product lines quality performance and customer satisfaction metrics (e.g. customer complaints, cost of poor quality)
  • Lead product lines efforts to eliminate product and process defects
  • Institute process to ensure timely and effective resolution of customer complaints utilizing team oriented problem solving methods such as Global 8D, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Partner with product line supervisors to establish and implement training for manufacturing operators in customer quality expectations and internal quality systems processes, problem solving, methodologies and quality tools/techniques
  • Lead and develop a process to implement best practices and lessons learned across the product line/manufacturing floor and business units
  • Conduct routine process audits at each stage of the production process and incoming material to ensure product is in full compliance with specifications and inspection test plan

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:

  • 5+ years experience in sheet metal/extruded aluminum manufacturing in a quality function
  • Hands on experience using CNC, sheet metal cutting, bending, stamping, and forming equipment
  • Familiar with measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, scales, tape rules, surface gauges, indicators, multi-meter and other testing tools
  • Able to read and understand blueprints and schematics
  • Experience documenting quality issues and product dispositions in detail
  • Proven experience in process improvement
  • Knowledge of and/or exposure to ISO requirements
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel
  • Familiar with statistical software (such as Minitab)
  • ASQ Certification (e.g. CQE, CRE, CQA, Six Sigma (SSBG/SSBB, GB/BB) highly preferred
  • Bilingual is a huge plus
