More about the role:

Reporting to the CFO, you will manage all accounting functions of the company, ensuring Saglo’s financial health and achieving its financial goals while maximizing profitability and mitigating risks, and maintain our financial strength and excellent reputation.

Snapshot of key accountabilities:

  • Accounting Team Leadership: lead, mentor, support and assist in the development of the accounting team; set annual goals, monitor performance, conduct quarterly performance evaluations
  • Financial Reporting: work with property managers and property accountants to finalize quarterly operating statement variance reports and timely completion of balance sheets, operating statements and statement of cash flows
  • Collections/Tenant Evictions: communicate with tenants, timely prepare and serve monetary default notices, work with legal counsel to evict tenant, bring tenant to compliance with company KPI’s or reach stipulated settlement agreement
  • Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable: supervise property accountants responsible for all AR and AP functions
  • Financial Analysis: thorough review of General Ledger, Trial Balance, Balance Sheets and Income Statements each month and making necessary adjustments
  • Treasury and Cash Management: update all bank account cash balances weekly, prepare ACH and wire transfer transactions
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: work with property managers, leasing team and property accountants to prepare annual budget for all properties, and multi-year forecasting and in-year reforecasts
  • Tax Planning and Preparation: work with tax accountants in order to complete tax returns before IRS deadline (no extensions)
  • Timely end of month and end of year closing procedures and required Journal Entries, annual Operating Expense Reconciliations, and bank account reconciliations

 

Skills, Competencies & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Controller in the commercial real estate industry
  • Experience and thorough knowledge of the following:
    • End of month and end of year closing procedures and required Journal Entries
    • CRE Operating Expense Reconciliations
    • Tenant collections and evictions
    • All AP and AR functions
    • Financial Analysis: interpret complex financial data, review General Ledger, Trial Balance
    • Tax Planning and Preparation: working with tax accountants to complete tax returns before IRS April deadline
    • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Financial reporting
    • Treasury and Cash Management: today’s bank portals and functionality
  • Experience managing accounting teams including mentoring and performance evaluations
  • High proficiency in Excel – able to create complex worksheets using V-lookup formulas to import data
  • Experience with accounting software for commercial real estate (MRI preferred)
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting (preferred)
