We are seeking a Supplier Quality Manager to create, oversee, and implement an automotive compliant Supplier Quality Management system.  You will be an integral part of our outstanding team, working with like-minded professionals dedicated to making a difference in the world and transforming the automotive industry.

The role will be based in the company’s headquarters in Loveland, Colorado.

About the position:

Under the direction of the Quality Control Manager, this position will be responsible for the creation, oversight, and implementation of an automotive compliant Supplier Quality Management System. You will be a working contributor to create processes, documents, and metrics, in support of Lightning’s growth and automotive quality certification requirements.

Key accountabilities include:

This position will operate in two distinct phases:

1)While Lightning eMotors is establishing its basic organizational needs, you will:

  • Support management in locating, interviewing, and hiring (if required) other candidates to fulfill the needs of the Supplier Quality Organization, as well as other related areas, such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Supply Management, etc.
  • Work with Engineering and Supply Management in any of the applicable needs in order to assess prototypes, designs, drawings or vendors to support prototype part readiness. This flexibility is relevant during this phase while roles and responsibilities are still being solidified.
  • Work on a very early stage with Engineering and Supply Management to align BOM with potential vendors for each of the direct material Part Numbers. Work pro-actively on it to support the best possible outcome for each of the expected first prototypes.

 

2) In parallel with 1, and looking into the future:

  • Work with Lightning management to establish the systems and processes needed to meet automotive standards in the supply base.
  • Locate, interview, and hire Supplier Quality Engineers for the different commodity groups utilized in the production of Lightning eMotors vehicles. This will chronologically follow the needs of each commodity group and Lightning’s strategy.
  • Establish the manual/systems/processes to assess and qualify suppliers according to IATF requirements with an emphasis to be on a preventive approach, simplicity, objectivity and focus on Lightning’s business needs.
  • Work with management to locate or develop a system to electronically manage suppliers with an emphasis to be on simplicity, efficiency, and Lightning’s business needs.
  • Train the Supplier Quality organization, vendors and Lightning employees on the supplier management tools and concepts.
  • Develop and manage a budget for the Supplier Quality organization and manage strictly to it.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials, Business, or similar Disciplines.
  • 10 years experience in the automotive industry as an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
  • Experienced with ISO based Quality systems, TS-16949 or IATF 16949 preferred.
  • Experienced in AIAG Core Tools and application (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA).
  • Experienced in creation and application of metrics applied to supplier performance.
  • Experienced in managing and/or assessing suppliers.
  • Experienced in managing and assessing direct reports
  • Skilled in problem-solving and effective decision-making.
  • Ability to use analytic methods and tools to understand, predict, and/or control supply chain operations and processes. Ability to analyze data and understand connections.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.
  • Ability to multitask and manage quickly changing objectives and priorities.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and independent worker; ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • ASQ and/or AIAG Certifications
  • Root cause analysis experience
  • Supplier development experience
  • Experience in equipment, vehicle, or technology.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $100,000 – $120,000
