PM/Estimator – Miramar, FL

HPI (Hurricane Protection Industries) is a specialty and commercial glass and glazing contractor based in South Florida.  We pride ourselves as being your one source Specialty/General Contractor that provides hurricane hardening and the delivery of total glazing systems (including retrofit) that meet or exceed stringent building codes.  We are experts in providing turnkey solutions for hospitals, universities, K-12, shelters, governmental, historic and commercial facilities through Florida, coastal Texas and Louisiana.    We are seeking a Project Manager/Estimator to join our talented team.  This is a newly created position – we are expanding!

Key Accountabilities:

  • Solicit bid invitations, download and manage drawings, specs and CAD files on potential projects
  • Assist management in identifying suitable opportunities to bid
  • Prepare quantity surveys/take-offs, input data into spreadsheets and reports and estimating programs; identify labor, material, and time requirements; visualize, analyze and communicate project scope of work
  • Prepare submittals and shop drawings in AutoCad, prepare submittals and RFI’s to architect and log; coordinate and communicate with outside engineers for signed and sealed SD’s
  • Identify final scope of work, prepare purchase orders, communicate with vendors; effectively communicate project expectations to team members in timely fashion
  • Prepare construction permit applications and submit; understand permitting process and expedite permit issuance
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones; identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project(s)
  • Attend GC or owner construction meetings when required, coordinate with field supervisors, assist with surveying and analyzing field conditions
  • Review and approve subcontractor/vendor contracts and pay requests if required, develop contract change orders and review and approve subcontract change orders;maintain as-built drawings, prepare close out, warranty and final as-built drawing records
  • Maintain technical and industry knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications

 Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in a project management and/or estimating capacity specifically with glass and glazing systems
  • Specific experience with commercial hurricane impact glazing systems such as from YKK, Kawneer, Arch/Trulite, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of computer software related to estimating, drafting and project management including Excel, GDS Storefront, PartnerPAK, MS Project
  • MUST be proficient in AutoCad
