Owners Rep – Project Manager – Miami, FL

About the position:

You will be managing various projects in different stages of construction, including ground up as well as remodels and build-outs. Managing the architect and contractor, as well as keeping the management team informed on a weekly basis of progress and issues from design concept to construction to completion.   Key accountabilities include:

  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer requirements from finishes, signage, square footage, etc. and be able to effectively negotiate issues among architects and contractors.
  • Coordinate all the steps from permitting, to design, construction and closeout; working effectively with the general contractor, architects, municipalities, and our legal team
  • Monitor construction to make sure the project is being built according to design and specifications
  • Monitor the construction schedule and alert owner/management to conditions that may lead to delays or falling behind schedule
  • Review Change Orders submitted by the GC and ensure all credits are accurate and applied
  • Review drawings for completeness and compliance with manufacturer specifications
  • Review contractor’s requisitions for payment and recommend release of funds
  • Monitor and analyze construction budget

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:

  • Minimum 10 years experience as an Owners Rep or Project Manager with a GC/Developer, preferably in a large organization
  • Must have been responsible for ground up construction of commercial projects such as large retail or shopping centers
  • Excellent understanding of the construction issues that arise working with GC’s, municipalities, legal and proven ability to effectively work through those issues to resolution for all parties
  • Strong understanding of the paperwork involved including CO’s, RFI’s, submittals, contracts, scopes of work
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and project management software
  • Bachelor degree in Construction Management or related field is highly desirable
