DSS provides owners’ representative and project management services to the commercial, educational and governmental construction, remodeling and refurbishment markets.  DSS helps it’s clients by achieving millions of dollars in savings during the planning phases of a project and then keeping everything on track during construction.  Some of our exciting projects include the Ransom Everglades School, the iconic 1111 Lincoln Road parking garage, and The Clevelander Hotel.

About the position:

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for developing new relationships that bring in new, first-time clients, in order to meet our aggressive 3 to 5 year revenue growth targets.

Snapshot of key accountabilities:

  • Communicate directly with clients, initiating and building trusting relationships
  • Lead the development, organization and implementation of sales initiatives for the company; including lead generation, word of mouth recommendations, referrals, sales funnel management, issuing proposals, contract negotiations, customer retention and repeat business.
  • Optimize the company’s participation in relevant trade groups and associations.
  • Organize promotional events and attend them to facilitate their success
  • Prepare and deliver promotional presentations
  • Attend formal networking events designed to generate leads, referrals and new sales
  • Support company executives in organizing various projects, including seminars, workshops and client presentations.
  • Conduct market research to generate leads
  • Track and forecast revenues, report on progress toward revenue goals.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge Required:

  • Proven experience generating new business utilizing strong sourcing and closing skills
  • Good understanding of terminology and processes in the construction industry
  • Active network of established relationships and referral sources in the commercial construction industry (developers, owners, architects, engineers, bankers, brokers, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and experience with a CRM system
  • Outstanding oral and written communication
  • Minimum two-year degree required; Bachelors Degree strongly preferred
