About the position:
The Assistant Asset Manager will support the Asset Management team overseeing our portfolio and our relationships between the company and the property managers and joint venture partners. A key aspect of this position is the collection and analysis of the property financial information as well as the completion of an executive summary to include in our quarterly reports (in both English and Spanish) to provide management and investors. In addition, you will be reviewing and analyzing property operating statements on a monthly basis and determine discrepancies and identify where we can be more efficient. A third key responsibility is the financial tracking and analysis of our properties’ performance. The primary goal is to maximize total return for each assigned asset through the analysis of property efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improved performance.
Additionally:
- Work closely with third party property managers and leasing agents to provide direction for and oversight of business plans, budgets, forecasts, leases, renewals, analysis and approvals as requested by the Senior Asset Manager
- Collect market data and conduct benchmarking analysis
- Analyze cash flow, distribution analysis and investment projections
- Assist in the valuation of properties, annually or more frequently if necessary
- Provide pre-acquisition input and assistance in the due diligence process and underwriting
- Model full life cycle financial analysis for each asset from acquisition through disposition
- Manage capital improvement projects as requested by the Senior Asset Manager
- Assist in special projects including oversight of portfolio real estate tax and Insurance programs
- Analyze balance sheet, income statement, comparison to budget and business plan
- Audit the property operations and financial statements

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:
- 2-4 years of commercial real estate asset management experience
- Strong financial analysis skills
- BA/BS degree in Finance, Operations, Real Estate or related field with strong record of academic achievement (MBA preferred, but not required)
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
- Fluent in Spanish, both speaking and written – mandatory
- Ability to travel as necessary
